The Kenknight grave was purchased from the public subscription set up to help the surviving children who were -
Frederick aged 17.
George aged 16.
Sidney aged 13.
Percy aged 10.
Minnie aged 2.
Frederick was to die in 1904 in an explosion at the Gunpowder factory on Cliffe Marshes.
15th. July 1901. The Vicar, the Rev. Herbert Boyd, wrote at the top of the page -
'the four Kenknights who are buried together today are the victims of a fire which took place after midnight on Sunday 7th. July at their home opposite the chapel and next to the forge. The father and the 2 children were found in each others arms burnt to death. The mother died 2 days later in hospital'
These are the grave stones of several Comport children made famous by Charles Dickens as those of Pip's family.
